Story by AILILL-CHERRY: Sarah by ~Tip-of-the-Quill:iconTip-of-the-Quill:

Sarah lived an altogether dull life, working as a secretary.  She greatly enjoyed er long walks home, no matter the weather, not even on a chilly, early winter day sch as this.  The sidewalk was spotted wit cold little puddles, as it was not quite cold enough for snow and ice just yet.

Part of Sarah wanted to jump in the puddles; the small, happy, childish part that had no business working as a secretary.  It was cold, anway, and she neither wanted to be colder nor mess up her shoes.  Besides, Sarah's mother had always warned her against jumping in puddles.  Particulary puddles on concrete.  Particularly now that she was living alone.

Even so, every step drew Sarah nearer and nearer to a particularly large puddle, very splash-worthy and the newly stirred child in Sarah raged and squealed and bounced witht eh want, no the //need to jump in that puddle!//

Sarah glanced around.  No one on the street.  No sound but the winter wind and the crunch of her sneakers on the pavement, unless she chose to count the voice of her monther head, reminding her of how foolish it was to jump in puddles.  Which she didn't.

Her pace quickened.  There was the puddle.  Just one little splash couldn't hurt.  The child-Sarah shrieked with delight.

Sarah's feet left the fround and, for one dainty moment, Sarah was airborne.

//Splash!//

Her feet crashed into the puddle, but at the critical moment of ultimate splashing, she slipped.  Sarah flailed but, before she could so much as feel dismayed, she fell back, her bead smacking against the hard pavement with a hard //fwak!//  as the world went dark.

So //that// was why her mother told her not to jump in puddles.

*squeals* YAY! That's awesome! I bet you could make the entire story sound good.

Why did you write it though if you don't mind me asking?
:icontip-of-the-quill:
*shrug* I felt like writing. But my established stories felt too weighty for the moment, and my non-established stories (including a new ghost story based on a neat dream I had) just didn't feel like the right time to write them (that time being Bio Class). So I wanted to write a humor. The only humors I know are Rosella, which is currently only made up of snippets concerning the ghost-talking Victorian girl which needs more research to be adequately funny, or one of your stories I've been meaning to write down. And the story of yours I know best is, of course, this one.

Though I can't remember the name of the imaginary thing. I think I can get all the way to the point where you stopped, but I forgot his name.
:iconailill-cherry:
Blast. Until you mentioned him I'd forgotten there WAS an imaginary thing! Shows how good I am at remembering anything... Hum. I can't even remember Boy's name...

Where is this CON in April?
:icontip-of-the-quill:
Boy didn't have a name.

There are three cons. On one weekend, there is one in Houston and, simultaneously, one in The Woodlands. I'm getting so fed up with the Houston one that I might just do the Woodlands one.
:iconailill-cherry:
Well if I get brave I might just take you up on joining the woodlands one with stuff. If I get real brave.
:icontip-of-the-quill:
it's looking like i might just end up doing only the woodlands one. and there are plenty of sensible people at cons, too.
:iconailill-cherry:
Sensible people at cons? You jest. *wrinkles nose* But yeah, a kimono, a few boxes. It might be fun.
:icontip-of-the-quill:
I don't. I have had many conversations based on non-anime stuff at cons.

Yeah... it's looking like it's just going to be anime matsuri.
:iconailill-cherry:
Hum... ok, what are the rules for that con?
